- Physical and chemical properties:
Its pure product is white crystallines with a melting
point of 233~235C decomposition. It is soluble in alcohols
acetone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate etc. It is
insoluble in petroleum ether benzene and chloroform. The
water
solution of the product is the most stable at PH3~4.
The product can't be decomposed in dry condition and it
is rapidly decomposed in hot condition and in
chlorine.
- Bioactivitiles:
The most significant bioactivity of the product is to
stimulate elongation of plant cell, to make the plant tall
and
to make leaves large. The product can break dormancy
of seeds, tuber and root tuber to promote their
sprouting, to stimulate fruit growing to increase the
percentage of fruiting or to form seedless fruit. It can be
used instead of low temperature to promote the plants
which need low temperature in their fertile stage to form
flower buds ahead of time and can also be used
instead of long daylight to make some plants to bloom in
short
daylight.
- Toxicity:
It has very low toxicity to animals.
- Precautions:
1. The powder of gibberellin is insoluble in water,
thus should be dissolved previonsly by a little of alcohol
then
diluted with water to required concentration.
2. The product can be mixed with acidic pesticides
but not with basic pesticides otherwise it would be
inactivated.
3. The prepared water solution of the product should
not be stored for a long time to avoid the reduction of
activity.
4. The product can not be heated since it may be
inactivated when temperature is over 50C.
5. The product should be kept it a low temperature
and dry place.
6. The product will be toxic if taken orally. wash
immediately if the powder of product splashes into
eyes.
